Account and Content Deletion

Your right to leave Ghumify

You may delete your Ghumify account without giving a reason.

Deletion is available from Settings, then Account, then Delete Account.

If you cannot access your account, write to contact@ghumify.com from the address on the account and ask for deletion.

Identity verification

Before accepting a sensitive deletion request, we may take proportionate steps to verify that you control the account.

We do not require unnecessary identity documents where normal account verification is sufficient.

Confirmation

Account deletion requires a deliberate confirmation.

This is intended to prevent accidental or unauthorized deletion.

What happens after confirmation

After you confirm deletion:

• your public profile is disabled
• ordinary social activity is disabled
• the account enters Pending Deletion
• permanent deletion is scheduled for completion within 30 days

The interface should show the planned completion date.

Canceling deletion

During the pending period, you may restore the account by deliberately selecting Cancel deletion.

Merely opening Ghumify or signing into the account does not automatically cancel deletion.

If you take no explicit cancellation action, deletion continues.

Final deletion

Permanent deletion will normally be completed no later than 30 days after confirmation.

Where applicable law requires an earlier action, that requirement takes priority.

Once permanent deletion is complete, the ordinary account cannot be restored.

Information removed

Final deletion removes or permanently de-links personal information associated with the account, including where applicable:

• account credentials and identifiers
• private real name
• email
• profile information and profile photograph
• biography
• posts and media
• stories and Story Archive
• comments
• saved places
• trips
• group information associated only with the deleted account
• check-ins and raw location
• visit history
• XP, achievements, stamps and badges
• Passport information
• leaderboard linkage
• other account-associated personal data

Messages

Account deletion is not handled merely by changing the sender name while permanently retaining all account-associated messages.

On final deletion:

• ordinary message text associated with the deleted account is removed from active Ghumify conversations
• message media and voice content associated with the deleted account are removed
• personal sender information is removed
• the conversation may retain a neutral marker such as Deleted user or Message unavailable

This allows remaining participants to understand the structure of a conversation without preserving the deleted user’s ordinary content indefinitely.

Copies outside Ghumify

Ghumify cannot retrieve:

• screenshots
• downloaded files
• copied text
• forwarded information
• other content another person independently stored outside Ghumify

Deleted posts

Where recovery is provided, deleting a post hides it from ordinary users promptly. The post may remain in a restricted recovery state for up to 30 days.

After the recovery period, it is permanently removed from active systems, subject to limited legal or safety exceptions and backup expiry.

Stories

Stories normally disappear from their audience after approximately 24 hours. They may then move to the account holder’s private Story Archive.

You may delete archived stories. Account deletion overrides ordinary archive retention.

Comments

Deleted comments may be removed from active systems promptly.

A minimal text-free moderation or audit record may remain where reasonably necessary.

Message controls

Where supported:

Delete for me

Removes the content from your own view.

Unsend for everyone

Removes the applicable message content from the active conversation, subject to narrow safety and legal retention.

Check-ins and location

Raw check-in GPS normally expires within 30 days even if you do not delete your account.

On account deletion, account-associated check-in and location records are deleted or permanently de-linked, subject to narrowly necessary legal, safety or unresolved investigation requirements.

Closed safety and moderation cases

Evidence from a completed moderation matter may remain for up to 180 days after final closure.

A longer period requires a specific continuing legal or serious safety reason.

Fraud investigations

Fraud-related GPS evidence should ordinarily not remain beyond 90 days from collection without a documented continuing reason and review date.

A generic fraud label does not justify indefinite retention.

Backups

Ghumify uses or may use rolling backups for service continuity.

Deleted information may remain temporarily inside isolated backups for up to approximately 30 days after active deletion.

Backups are not intended to restore deleted accounts into ordinary service. Deletion records should be reapplied if a backup is restored.

Legal and safety exceptions

Ghumify may retain narrowly limited information where necessary for:

• a legal obligation
• a lawful authority request
• serious child-safety matters
• an active security incident
• preventing or investigating serious fraud
• establishing or defending legal rights
• another documented lawful purpose

The retained information should be restricted from unrelated product, analytics or advertising use.

De-identified information

Ghumify may retain statistics that no longer identify or reasonably relate to a particular deleted user.

For example, an aggregate total such as the overall number of check-ins completed by the entire Ghumify community may remain after individual account linkage is removed.

Underage accounts

If Ghumify learns that an account belongs to someone under 18, ordinary access may be suspended and the account processed for correction or deletion.

The 30-day deletion period is an operational maximum and is not used to justify continued unnecessary collection from a known underage user.

Future subscriptions

V1 does not include a Ghumify subscription.

If subscriptions are introduced later, deleting a Ghumify account may not automatically cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Any future subscription flow will explain how cancellation works.

Deletion confirmation

Where operationally available, Ghumify will provide confirmation after permanent account deletion has been completed.
